Two volumes of the first collected works of Lord Byron edited by Thomas Moore, Irish poet and one of Byron's literary executors, and published by Byron's other literary executor, John Murray.

Murray's The Works of Lord Byron was was originally to be complete in 14 volumes, but was extended to 17 volumes, with the volumes being issued at the rate of one per month beginning in January 1832, with publication concluding in 1833. According to Sadleir, the first two volumes of the set were issued with a green paper label on the spine with the title and a coronet printed in gold. "It was between the issue of volumes. 2 and 3 that Archibald Leighton perfected his process for preparing the surface of the cloth and so introduced the gold-blocking of cloth which has been practiced ever since."

As the Imperial Arming Press coincidentally became available in 1832, it is likely that these two volumes are also examples of one of the first applications of the Imperial Arming Press to cloth bindings.

Volume VI: Near fine with soft corners. Vol. XVII: Very good +, with soft corners; tide mark on the upper left corner of the frontis and the additional title page; a contemporary leaflet for Curtis's Botanical magazine laid in. Both volumes have a neat contemporary ownership mark on the lower half-title and on the upper right of the additional page.
Exceptionally scarce with the bindings intact and unfaded; an outstanding pair.
